Girl Scouts Clean Up

J.L. Long Middle School Girl Scout Troop 1566 set an example for others Saturday by volunteering to pick up trash with For the Love of the Lake during the monthly Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-up.

The volunteer work will go toward completing the students' Girl Scout Bronze Award community hours.

According to the Girl Scouts Web site, the Bronze Award is "the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn, [because it] requires her to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community."End of story
