As the spotlight on the environment and environmentally friendly products seamlessly migrates into society's mainstream, Dee's Doggie Den takes pride in its steps to adopt green practices for its pet boarding, grooming, and day care facility.
Formerly housed off Mockingbird Lane and Skillman Street for nine years, owner Dee Fort and her husband relocated to a larger, 8,000-square-foot indoor facility at the southeast corner of Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road, once occupied by Lakewood Garden Center, nearly a year ago with an eye toward expanding their vision in an environmentally responsible way.
"We decided to go environmentally friendly because the pet care industry was changing so dramatically that we decided it was time to upgrade," said Fort, who opened the business in November 1998 and marks her 10th anniversary this month.
Inside the facility, RB Rubber Agility Mat flooring is featured. Made from recycled tires, the flooring is prized for its durability and surface resilience, which complement dogs' everyday activities.
This type of flooring is ideal not only for the easy cleanup benefits but also for its traction qualities, protecting dog joints and functioning as a natural shock absorber to canine activities such as running and jumping.
