Walking among stars

The iconic Lakewood Theater marked its 70th year Oct. 27, so happy belated birthday to the old tower.

Nodding acknowledgement of the milestone goes to Jeanette Crumpler, known by some in these parts as the Tomato Lady and unofficial Lakewood historian, who, along with Jim Davis of the Disciples of Trinity, co-wrote "The Lakewood StarWalk, As Seen Through the Eyes of D.O.T."

The co-authors even scored a little TV face-time on the day of the theater's anniversay commemoration.

The book, still available at the Disciples of Trinity store, chronicles the people behind all those stars in the pavement leading up to the theater's box office, in case you ever wanted to know.

Proceeds from sales of the book help support the terminally ill children, women, and men assisted by the disciples.
