Members and representatives of the Greater White Rock Early Childhood PTA and Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association joined forces with other community groups last Tuesday to make life in the area a little more difficult for criminals.

National Night Out took place Oct. 7 at Tietze Park. The event offered neighbors the opportunity to get to know other neighbors, which, according to police, helps reduce crime because residents know who lives in a particular area and who might not belong.

The event features demonstrations by the Dallas police and fire departments as well as refreshments, children's activities, and good ol' neighborly mingling.
