Finally, after nearly four interminably bleak months, the hockey gods drop the puck tonight on the Dallas Stars regular season.
It's really hard to type while doing my happy dance, but can I get an amen?
Well, yes I probably can — from the 1.3 hockey fans among every 1,000 sports fans in this town. The Stars have been here 15 years, and the greatness that is NHL-level hockey still ranks a pathetic fifth among the five major sports — baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer — played in this town. Philistines.
I'd even rank it behind NASCAR, but that's not exactly a team sport. I'm not even sure if it counts as a sport. I mean, we pretty much do the same thing every time we merge onto a freeway.
