The Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament takes place next week, and the Lakewood Neighborhood Association conducts its general meeting tomorrow evening at 6:30 in the Lakewood Elementary School auditorium. Proceeds from the fundraising tournament and discussions during the meeting will be directed to the association's beautification efforts.

I'm all for more trees and landscaping and such, but there is one section of the neighborhood that needs a good coat of pretty. The brick wall that runs from Sondra Drive to Bob O' Link Drive along the east side of Abrams Road is in pretty serious need of some fresh paint.

There are discolored sections of the wall and at least one boarded-up hole, and a little beautification there could make it a lot more attractive to everyone who drives by.
