Celebration Tree Grove off Poppy Drive near Doctor's Hospital.
The Celebration Tree Grove is a place where people can honor, celebrate, and remember loved ones by contributing to ongoing reforestation efforts at White Rock Lake Park.
Located at the northeast edge of White Rock Lake Park, the grove includes new trees surrounding a network of pathways near East Lawther and Poppy drives. Gifts of $1,000 or more will be acknowledged with an engraved bronze plaque.
"The project promotes advocacy for our urban forest," said Chris Mickey, coordinator of the Celebration Tree Grove. "It also is a great way to honor people, pets, and organizations that we love in a way that is meaningful and provides ongoing benefits to the park by adding much-needed canopy cover. It's a way for White Rock Lake lovers to leave a lasting legacy of lofty trees for generations to come."
"The original concept included creating the infrastructure of the grove, then planting mature trees in the grove, then reforestation, and now tree maintenance throughout the park," said Steve Tompkins, the president of FTLOTL. "It is thrilling to see this phase of The Celebration Tree Grove project come to fruition."
