Party time

Sam Leake, president of the White Rock Boathouse, just gave me a sneak preview tour of the new boathouse and event facility in the old filter building at the lake. This is going to be a neighborhood gem.

The sedimentation basins have been cleared and refloored with concrete, in preparation for the boathouse part of the project. The new facility will especially enhance the facilities for SMU and our local high school rowing teams.

Of more general interest is the old filter building. For such a utilitarian facility, it's really a beautiful old building. Leake told me that the plan of the Boathouse and the architects (ArchiTexas) is to restore it and leave it fairly "rough," so that the history of the place shines through. I'm telling you, it's going to be a great facility for parties, concerts, weddings, and other events. I dare say there will be nothing quite like it in Dallas.End of story

Once again...another project...that enhances and
impacts East Dallas. Our "Central Park" aka
White Rock Lake and Park is the jewel of the city..
Thanks to the vision of Sam Leake and his associates.
